About Gram (prev. TON) (GRAM)

What is the Gram (GRAM) coin?

Gram (GRAM) is the native coin of The Open Network (TON), a proof-of-stake layer-1 blockchain originally developed by the Telegram team and now maintained by the open-source TON community. Gram pays network fees, secures validation and voting rights, and was initially distributed via proof-of-work mining that ended in June 2022. The Open Network targets mainstream adoption through deep Telegram Messenger integration — Mini Apps, bots, Telegram Gifts, Stars, and ad payouts all settle in Gram.

Why did Toncoin (TON) rebrand to Gram (GRAM)?

Toncoin officially became Gram on June 15, 2026, after a community vote closed June 8, 2026 with 81.22% support. The rebrand reclaimed the "Gram" identity Telegram abandoned in 2020, when SEC litigation over the original $1.7B Gram offering forced Telegram to exit the project. The rename changed only the name and ticker — Gram is the same asset as Toncoin, and the ERC-20 and BEP-20 wrapped contracts are unchanged.

Is Gram a coin or a token?

Gram is a coin, not a token, because GRAM is native to its own layer-1 blockchain — The Open Network. Wrapped versions exist as tokens on other chains: an ERC-20 contract on Ethereum and a BEP-20 contract on BNB Smart Chain, both with 9 decimals. The original asset lives natively on the TON chain.

What is Gram's total supply?

Gram has a total supply of approximately 5.23 billion GRAM, with no maximum supply cap set. The original documentation limited supply to 5 billion ("5 Gigatons"), and supply grows slowly through validator rewards under proof-of-stake. Initial distribution came via PoW Giver mining, which ended on June 28, 2022. In 2024, validators froze roughly 20% of supply held in inactive mining and genesis wallets for 48 months.

Does Gram have a vesting schedule or token unlocks?

Gram has no vesting schedule, no cliff periods, and no scheduled unlock dates — the asset never had an insider TGE allocation. Distribution happened through 2018–2020-era sales by Telegram, PoW mining until 2022, and ongoing validator rewards. New issuance goes to validators at an estimated 0.5–0.6% annual inflation (CoinShares estimate, unaudited). The only supply overhang is the frozen inactive-wallet tranche plus future validator issuance.

Who invested in Gram, and what does the funding signal?

DropsTab fundraising data records $58M in disclosed raises across 10 tracked investment events for the TON ecosystem. The largest disclosed deals: $30M from Bitget and Foresight Ventures (September 2024), $10M from DWF Labs (November 2022), $10M from Gate.io (October 2024), and $8M from Mirana Ventures (March 2024). Pantera Capital, Animoca Brands — also TON's largest validator — KuCoin Ventures, MEXC, and Mask Network invested undisclosed amounts. Backing spans Tier-1 VCs, exchanges, and market makers; no single investor is known to hold over 20% of supply, so concentration risk appears low.

How did Gram's Binance Launchpool and airdrop campaigns work?

All four DropsTab-tracked campaigns have ended. Binance Launchpool ran August 15 – September 3, 2024, distributing 7.65M GRAM (0.15% of supply) to users staking BNB, FDUSD, or TON. The Open League Season 6 airdrops (September–November 2024) rewarded on-chain activity: the Normie track covered App League projects and NFT collections, while the Degen track required using TON DeFi protocols — liquid staking, lending, and perpetual DEXs. A New Year's AirDrop (November 27 – December 17, 2024) shared a $1.5M pool by DeFi score.

On which exchanges can Gram be traded?

Gram trades on 30+ venues across centralized exchange (CEX) spot, perpetual futures, and DEX surfaces per DropsTab data. Spot liquidity concentrates on tier-1 CEXs including Binance, Bybit, KuCoin, Upbit, and Crypto.com. Perpetual futures trade on Binance Futures, OKX, Gate.io, and Hyperliquid. DEX liquidity is dominated by native TON-chain venues STON.fi and DeDust, with wrapped GRAM on Uniswap and PancakeSwap. Coinbase and Kraken still quote legacy TON pairs — exchange-side lag from the June 2026 ticker switch, same underlying asset.

Is GRAM token legit?

GRAM is a live, tracked asset — the native coin of The Open Network, trading on 30+ venues with spot listings on tier-1 exchanges including Binance, Bybit, KuCoin, Upbit, and Crypto.com. The June 2026 Toncoin-to-Gram rebrand was a rename only: no token claim, migration, or swap was required, and holders kept the same asset. One scam vector to know: genuine GRAM moves as a native TON-chain transaction, while fake tokens surface as Jetton transfers (TON's token standard) — not as the coin itself.

Does the SEC classify GRAM as a security?

The rebranded GRAM has not been labeled a security by US regulators. The original 2020 Gram was treated as a security in SEC v. Telegram, but that asset was abandoned — today's GRAM is a long-circulating coin of a decentralized network. A joint SEC–CFTC interpretation dated March 17, 2026 named 16 tokens as digital commodities; GRAM was not on that list, which is non-exhaustive. DropsTab carries a legacy "SEC security token" tag that reflects the 2020 history, not a current regulatory status.
