Caroline Ellison, who is serving a two-year sentence for her role in the FTX collapse, will be released from federal supervision on January 21, 2026.

Ellison, 31, has been under house arrest since October 2025 after being transferred from a Connecticut prison. Data from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons confirms the release date.

Ellison pleaded guilty in December 2022 to fraud and conspiracy charges related to the collapse of crypto exchange FTX, which resulted in billions of dollars in customer losses. She cooperated with the investigation and testified against FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried, who was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

In September 2024, federal Judge Lewis Kaplan sentenced Ellison to two years in prison and forfeiture of $11 billion. Her early release - about 10 months ahead of her full sentence - was due to her exemplary behavior and active cooperation with authorities.

FTX bankruptcy chief John Ray noted in September documents that Ellison's assistance helped recover hundreds of millions of dollars in assets for the benefit of creditors.

In early December, Ellison also agreed to a 10-year ban from holding executive positions at publicly traded companies and cryptocurrency exchanges. She will remain on supervised release.
