Israeli authorities have charged a IDF reservist and a civilian with using classified military information to place bets on the Polymarket prediction platform.

This is the first confirmed case of access to state secrets being used for insider trading on a prediction market.

Key details

A joint investigation by the security service, military police, and Ministry of Defense found that the defendants used classified information about upcoming military operations to gain financial advantage.

  • Charges: They are charged with "serious security crimes" as well as bribery and obstruction of justice.
  • The investigation began after a user named ricosuave666 made a series of extremely accurate bets on Israeli military actions in Iran in June 2025, earning about $150,000.
  • The authorities emphasized that such actions jeopardize real IDF operations and national security, as the bets could reveal enemy plans.

At this time, many details of the case are under a court gag order.
