Mastercard and Google are preparing infrastructure for purchases via AI agents

Mastercard is launching Verifiable Intent, a system that creates cryptographic proof of what the user has authorized when an AI agent makes a transaction.

This allows:

• Confirm that the agent is indeed authorized by the user.
• Record instructions and purchase conditions.
• Prevent fraud and resolve disputes more quickly.

The technology is being developed in collaboration with Google and will be integrated into the Mastercard Agent Pay payment system.
