The Ethereum Foundation has published a new policy document titled the EF Mandate, which outlines the foundation’s mission and key principles for its operations and the development of the Ethereum ecosystem.
According to the mandate, Ethereum’s primary goal is to protect users’ digital sovereignty. The network must remain:
- censorship-resistant,
- open source,
- confidential,
- secure.
These principles are combined into the CROPS concept (censorship-resistant, open source, private, secure). They must not be sacrificed, even for the sake of convenience or to accelerate the ecosystem’s development.
The organization is no longer the sole center of Ethereum development. As the ecosystem has grown, it has become just one of many participants supporting the network.
