MetaMask
At the moment, the Project may be in preliminary stages (Seed, Private Sale, Presale, ICO). The information provided below may be inaccurate (Beta) and being updated.
What is the MetaMask wallet?
MetaMask is a self-custodial crypto wallet and consumer crypto platform developed by Consensys since 2016. The wallet runs as a browser extension and mobile app, supports Ethereum and EVM-compatible chains, and has expanded into in-wallet token swaps, perpetuals trading, card spending, savings through MetaMask Money (up to 6% APY), and a native stablecoin, mUSD. On September 9, 2026, Consensys announced a split into two independent companies — a standalone MetaMask and a new Consensys holding Linea, Besu, and institutional infrastructure. MetaMask has no token.
Does MetaMask have a native token?
No. MetaMask has no token, ticker, smart contract, or launch date as of September 2026. Consensys CEO Joseph Lubin confirmed in September 2025 that "the MASK token is coming," but no official tokenomics followed. Three assets get mistaken for a MetaMask token: the live MASK token of Mask Network — an unrelated project — fake "METAMASK" squatter tokens on DEX aggregators, and mUSD, MetaMask's own stablecoin, which is a separate asset.
When will the MetaMask MASK token launch?
No launch date exists. Joseph Lubin teased the MASK token in September 2025 as arriving "sooner than you would expect." Reports suggest a MetaMask standalone listing as early as 2027, but no IPO date and no token launch have been confirmed. Any date circulating in guides or social posts is speculation until MetaMask or Consensys publishes an official announcement.
What will the MetaMask token supply and airdrop allocation be?
No supply figure or airdrop allocation has been announced. Numbers in unofficial guides — roughly 10 billion total supply and 15% for users — come from speculation, not from MetaMask or Consensys. Two data points fuel the expectations. Series D investors in 2022 reportedly received warrants tied to a future MetaMask token and DAO structure. The $30M MetaMask Rewards program, announced in October 2025, was widely read as airdrop groundwork. Neither constitutes official tokenomics.
How did MetaMask's airdrop-related campaigns work?
Per DropsTab data, MetaMask ran two earning campaigns before any token existed. MetaMask Missions, a quest campaign, ran from July 21 to August 9, 2025 — users completed weekly missions to earn sweepstakes entries toward token rewards. MetaMask Rewards, a points program backed by $30M, ran from October 28, 2025 to January 23, 2026 — points accrued on token swaps and perps trading inside the wallet. Both campaigns have ended. No official link between earned points and a future MASK allocation has been announced.
Who owns MetaMask?
MetaMask belongs to Consensys, the company Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin founded. On September 9, 2026, Consensys announced a split into two independent companies. Consensys Software Inc. will be rebranded as MetaMask, with Joseph Lubin as Chairman and CEO. A new Consensys holding takes the Linea and Besu protocols plus institutional infrastructure. The separation is expected to complete by the end of 2026.
How much funding has Consensys raised to back MetaMask?
Consensys raised approximately $725 million across four rounds. The $450M Series D closed on March 15, 2022 and valued the company above $7 billion. Investors in that round included Coinbase Ventures, Microsoft, ParaFi, Sound Ventures, and Anthos Capital. Earlier rounds included $65M in April 2021 and a $200M Series C in November 2021, announced as MetaMask passed 21 million monthly active users. No token sale has ever occurred — all funding sits at the company level.
Can you buy a MetaMask token on exchanges?
No. No MetaMask token trades on any exchange, centralized or decentralized, because no token exists. The live MASK ticker on exchanges belongs to Mask Network, an unrelated project. Tokens labeled "METAMASK" on DEX aggregators are fake squatter contracts trading at near-zero prices — a documented scam vector. Buying should wait until Consensys or MetaMask publishes an official contract address.
What is the MetaMask USD (mUSD) stablecoin?
mUSD is MetaMask's own stablecoin and a separate asset from the teased MASK token. The stablecoin sits inside the wallet's consumer platform alongside swaps, perps, and card spending. The MetaMask Rewards points program of October 2025 – January 2026 aimed in part at boosting mUSD adoption alongside Linea activity. mUSD is a stablecoin product, not the MetaMask token — no MetaMask investment token exists yet.
