Monad is a Layer 1 blockchain with full EVM byte-code compatibility, targeting roughly 10,000 transactions per second with 0.8-second finality. Category Labs, a development company founded by ex-Jump Trading engineers including co-founder Keone Hon, built the network. Mainnet went live with the MON token generation on November 24, 2025. Monad positions the chain for payments, asset tokenization and high-throughput dApps.

How does Monad's blockchain architecture work?

Monad processes transactions through optimistic parallel execution: independent transactions run simultaneously, and the network re-executes when an assumption about dependencies fails. Deferred execution separates consensus from transaction execution, so both run at full speed. MonadDb, the state backend, stores data natively for parallel access. Monad runs full EVM byte-code compatibility, so existing Ethereum contracts deploy on Monad without code changes.

What is Monad's total and max supply?

Monad's total supply is 100 billion MON. Per DropsTab data, the maximum supply is capped at 114,166,666,695 MON. The 14.17 billion MON gap between the two figures comes from staking rewards: the network emits new MON to stakers until the maximum is reached.

How does Monad's vesting cliff affect sell pressure?

Team, Investors and Category Labs Treasury allocations carry a 12-month cliff after token generation. The first cliff lands on November 24, 2026, when about 16.6% of total supply unlocks in a single event: 10.69 billion MON from Team, 4.93 billion from Investors and 1 billion from the Treasury. Monthly tranches of roughly 944 million MON follow through 2030. This schedule concentrates dilution risk around the November 2026 cliff and the monthly releases after it.

Who backed Monad?

Monad Labs raised $19M in a seed round in February 2023, backed by Dragonfly Capital, Lemniscap, Placeholder, Shima Capital and angels including Naval Ravikant and Cobie. The April 2024 funding round raised $225M led by Paradigm, with Electric Capital and Greenoaks participating; Fortune reported it as the largest crypto fundraise of 2024 to that date. OKX Ventures joined a strategic round in May 2024. No single VC holds more than 20% of MON supply.

What was Monad's public sale on Coinbase?

Monad ran a public sale on Coinbase from November 17 to 22, 2025, the first token sale hosted on that platform. Per DropsTab fundraising data, the sale offered 7.5 billion MON at $0.025 per token and raised $187.5M. Combined with the venture rounds, Monad raised more than $430 million across all funding stages.

How did the MON airdrop work?

The MON Airdrop distributed 3.33 billion MON, 3.3% of total supply, to eligible users. The eligibility and claim window ran from October 14 to November 3, 2025, and allocations were claimable at the token generation event. An earlier Potential Airdrop campaign in March 2025 asked X followers of the Monad page to submit wallet addresses. Both campaigns have ended.
