What is the OKB coin?

OKB is the native utility and governance token of OKX, one of the largest global cryptocurrency exchanges. The token grants trading-fee discounts, access to OKX Jumpstart and earn products, and governance rights within the OKX ecosystem. OKB is issued as an ERC-20 asset on Ethereum under contract 0x75231f58b43240c9718dd58b4967c5114342a86c, verifiable on Etherscan. Since 2025, OKB has also served as the native gas token of X Layer, OKX's Ethereum layer-2 network. The OK Blockchain Foundation created OKB in 2018.

How is OKB used within the OKX ecosystem?

OKB holders receive trading-fee discounts on OKX, access to OKX Jumpstart token sales and earn products, and governance participation in the OKX ecosystem. The token also pays gas on X Layer, so every transaction on that network consumes OKB. These exchange-side benefits are the token's structural earning surfaces for holders.

Is there a cap on OKB's total supply?

Yes. Per DropsTab data, OKB's maximum supply is capped at 21,000,000 OKB, and total supply sits at the same level. OKX upgraded the smart contract on August 18, 2025 to permanently remove the mint and burn functions, fixing supply at that ceiling. The cap mirrors Bitcoin's fixed-supply model.

Did OKX burn OKB tokens?

Yes. OKX executed a one-time burn of 65,256,712.097 OKB on August 13, 2025, drawing on historical buy-back reserves and treasury holdings. That burn capped a buy-back-and-burn program running since May 4, 2019, which removed more than 213 million OKB across more than 20 burns. Because the contract no longer supports minting, burned tokens cannot be reissued. OKB originally launched with 300 million tokens under a whitepaper allocation of 60% community, 20% team, 10% investors, and 10% foundation.

Does OKB have a vesting schedule or token unlocks?

No. OKB has no vesting schedule, no cliff dates, and no scheduled unlocks. With minting removed from the contract, unlock-driven sell pressure and inflation risk do not exist by design. The residual supply risk is concentration: DropsTab has no data on the split between the exchange treasury and public holders, so treasury behavior is the variable to watch.

Who has invested in OKX?

Per DropsTab fundraising data, OKX shows three recorded rounds. Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent of the NYSE, invested on March 5, 2026 at a $25 billion pre-valuation; media reported the investment at roughly $200 million, an amount OKX did not formally confirm. On October 6, 2026, Ripple, Circle, SC Ventures, and Qube Research & Technologies invested at the same $25 billion valuation. Each October investor was already an OKX service partner, and OKX's 2014 Series A raised $10 million.

What role does OKB play as the X Layer gas token?

OKB is the sole gas and native token of X Layer, OKX's Ethereum layer-2 built on the Polygon CDK stack. An upgrade completed on August 5, 2025 raised network throughput to about 5,000 transactions per second and cut gas costs, supporting DeFi, payments, and tokenized real-world asset use. Every transaction on X Layer pays gas in OKB.

Where is OKB available to trade?

Per DropsTab data, OKB trades across more than 20 tracked markets spanning spot, perpetual futures, and DEX venues. Spot depth runs deepest on OKX, with additional USDT-pair listings on Gate, BingX, Bitrue, Bitunix, and Coinstore, plus an IDR pair on Indodax. USDT-margined perpetuals trade on OKX, Bybit, Gate.io, MEXC, and Bitunix. Uniswap v2, v3, and v4 pools on Ethereum carry on-chain flow, though DEX depth is thin relative to centralized venues. Liquidity concentrates on OKX itself, so order flow depends heavily on the issuer's own venue.

What was OKX Racer and how did it work?

OKX Racer was a Telegram MiniApp points campaign that started on July 22, 2024. Users completed in-app activities to earn points, and the points could be exchanged for rewards. The campaign has ended. OKB's recurring earning surfaces are structural: trading-fee discounts, Jumpstart access, and gas usage on X Layer.

Is OKX available in the United States?

OKX operates a dedicated US entity, OKX US, which serves American customers with a restricted set of assets. The full international market is not open to US users, so asset eligibility differs materially between the global platform and the US offering.
