About RateX (RTX)

What is RateX (RTX), really?

RateX is a Solana-based DeFi protocol built for trading yield itself, not just token prices. It lets users split yield-bearing assets into Principal Tokens (PT) and Yield Tokens (YT), making interest rates tradable. That sounds abstract, but the idea is simple: fixed income and rate speculation, brought on-chain. It’s closer to TradFi rates desks than typical crypto spot trading.

Why does RateX focus so much on yield instead of price?

Because yield is where a lot of quiet risk—and opportunity—lives. RateX lets users go long or short on APY, or lock in fixed returns until maturity. So instead of guessing price direction, you’re trading how rates move. That’s niche, sure, but it’s also where more sophisticated strategies usually sit.

What role does the RTX token actually play?

RTX is the governance and utility token for the protocol. Holders vote on things like fees and risk parameters, and RTX is used to unlock certain permissions, especially inside Mooncake. There’s also a buyback angle: up to 30% of protocol revenue can be used to repurchase RTX. Not a guarantee of value, but at least it ties the token to usage.

How much RTX exists, and can supply change later?

The supply is fixed at 100 million RTX, full stop. Total supply equals max supply, with no future minting planned. That simplicity matters here—rate products work best when the token side doesn’t keep changing the rules mid-game.

How is RTX distributed across the ecosystem?

The largest share, 44.18%, goes to ecosystem and community incentives. The team and treasury each hold 20%, while 15.82% is allocated to investors. It’s a fairly standard split, but no single group quietly controls a majority, which helps from a long-term governance perspective.

What should people know about vesting and unlocks?

Only about 6.66% of RTX unlocked at TGE through the community airdrop. Team and investor tokens are locked behind a one-year cliff, meaning nothing from those buckets hits circulation until around December 2026. After that, tokens vest gradually over 18 to 36 months. Slow by design, not accidental.

Who backed RateX, and how much capital is confirmed?

RateX completed a $7 million Strategic Round in November 2025. Investors include Crypto.com, Animoca Brands, Gate, GSR, Summer Capital, BGX, Rzong Capital, Echo, and SNZ Holding. There was earlier seed funding in 2024, but the amount wasn’t publicly disclosed—so $7M is the only confirmed figure.

Was there an airdrop or early community push?

Yes. At launch, 6.66 million RTX were distributed via the Season 1 community airdrop. Allocation came from the “RateX Dawn” campaign, which rewarded actual usage—trading, liquidity, referrals. No surprise snapshots. You either used the protocol, or you didn’t.

What are the main risks worth paying attention to?

This isn’t low-risk DeFi. Leveraged yield positions can liquidate quickly if rates move against you. Add in smart-contract complexity and oracle dependence, and the margin for error shrinks fast. Audits help, but they don’t make this casual. If spot trading feels stressful, rate trading probably isn’t calmer.
