LayerZero ZRO

LayerZero is not a blockchain, but rather, a messaging protocol. It uses smart contracts that are deployed on each chain, in combination with technologies like Decentralized Verifier Networks (DVNs) and Executors, who ensure seamless execution of messages on the destination chain.

This allows blockchains to interact with one another and share information and tokens. LayerZero V2 has separated message verification and execution into two separate phases. That way, developers get to have more control over their application’s security configuration and independent execution.

LayerZero V2 combines this with other contract-specific improvements, such as better handling, programmability, and message throughput. As a result, it creates more flexible, performant, anf future-proof messaging protocol.

This increases blockchain interoperability, and brings the world one step closer to establishing a competent Web3 model which is speculated to be the dominant form of the internet in the future.

LayerZero comes with a number of features and benefits, some of which are fairly widespread, but still highly desirable in a project, such as bing permissionless, immutable, and censorship-resistant.

However, its true value lies in the unique features that it has to offer, such as the ability to use it to send arbitrary data, tokens, external function cels, and more, across different chains and applications. This allows developers to configure unified data primitives, apps, and tokens, regardless of what chain they emerged on.

Simply put, LayerZero sits at the transport layer of the blockchain economy. This places it miles ahead of other cross-chain solutions, which are simply trying to win the right to verify messages.

As such, LayerZero can act as an actual quasi-aggregator of verification methods. That includes any verification method, be it attestation service, an oracle, or a bridge — they can all be used as a DVN.
