What is Coinbase Tokenized Stock Defichain (DCOIN)?
Coinbase Tokenized Stock Defichain (DCOIN) is a "dToken" on DeFiChain — a synthetic price-tracking token built to mirror the Coinbase (NASDAQ: COIN) share price on-chain. DeFiChain is a Bitcoin-fork layer-1 network with delegated Proof-of-Stake, live on mainnet since 2020. dCOIN sits in the tokenized-stock segment of real-world-asset crypto. The asset is wound down: DeFiChain shut down all dTokens in 2024, and dCOIN now trades with near-zero liquidity and no connection to actual Coinbase shares.
Is dCOIN the same as Coinbase (COIN) stock?
No. dCOIN is a synthetic price-tracking token on DeFiChain, not a Coinbase share. Holding dCOIN grants no equity ownership in Coinbase, no shareholder rights, and no dividends. The token tracked the COIN price only through oracle feeds while the DeFiChain dToken system operated. Price divergence from actual COIN stock was heavy in the token's final phase, so dCOIN did not reliably track the underlying share either.
Can you redeem dCOIN for real COIN shares?
No. dCOIN was never redeemable for real Coinbase shares. The token was minted by locking crypto collateral (DFI, BTC, or USDT) in a DeFiChain vault — no broker, custodian, or share reserve stood behind dCOIN. The dToken restart in November 2024 ended the system: unswapped dToken holdings, including dCOIN, were auto-converted to DFI, DeFiChain's native coin.
How did dCOIN work on DeFiChain?
dCOIN was minted on demand against overcollateralized vault loans. A user locked DFI, BTC, or USDT in a DeFiChain vault and received dCOIN at a minimum collateralization ratio of about 200%. Operator-appointed oracles supplied the COIN price feed. Vaults that broke the required ratio faced auction liquidation. Within DeFiChain, dCOIN circulated through DEX pairs (dCOIN/DUSD), liquidity mining, and loan collateral.
What happened to DeFiChain dTokens?
DeFiChain dTokens were wound down after the algorithmic stablecoin DUSD lost its peg. DeFiChain passed a "dToken restart" improvement proposal (DFIP), announced in October 2024 and executed in November 2024. Bake (Cake DeFi) delisted all 20 dTokens, including dCOIN, in October 2024. dToken deposits were disabled on October 14, 2024, and unwithdrawn holdings were auto-swapped to DFI, with DeFiChain DEX fees possibly applied.
Where can you trade DeFiChain dTokens?
DeFiChain dTokens no longer trade in any active market. The historical access routes were Bake (Cake DeFi), which delisted all dTokens in October 2024, and the DeFiChain native DEX, whose dCOIN/DUSD pool was wound down under the restart proposal. LCX in Liechtenstein still hosts a DCOIN price page, but that route shows no live trading activity. No KuCoin listing for dCOIN could be verified in public sources.
Is any DCOIN exchange market still active?
No active DCOIN market exists. Per DropsTab data, no spot, DEX, or derivative markets are mapped for DCOIN as of the September 2026 refresh. The LCX DCOIN/EUR page shows a €0.00 24-hour high/low — a dormant price page, not a functioning market. LCX also states it is not currently authorised under MiCA and restricts services for UK and US persons. Liquidity risk for dCOIN is effectively absolute.
Did dCOIN ever have a token sale, airdrop, or fixed supply?
No. dCOIN had no ICO, no IDO, no airdrop, and no vesting schedule at any point. Vault users minted the token permissionlessly rather than buying it, so no team, treasury, or investor allocation ever existed. Supply followed mint-and-redemption activity against vault collateral, with no fixed maximum — and minting ceased with the dToken restart. Remaining supply consists of tokens that were not swapped to DFI before the November 2024 deadline.
