What is the Onyxcoin (XCN) cryptocurrency?

Onyxcoin (XCN) is the native coin of Onyx, a Layer 1 blockchain aimed at payments, financial institutions and real-world applications. The Onyx mainnet launched on March 27, 2026. The network is EVM-compatible, runs proof-of-stake with aBFT consensus, and combines a public ledger with a private mesh layer for enterprise compliance. XCN pays gas, secures the network through staking and carries Onyx DAO governance rights. The project has announced an agreement to acquire the Chain technology for a blockchain-native neobank.

How is the XCN coin used within the Onyx ecosystem?
