What is the Monad Testnet?

Monad Testnet is a network testing environment where users and developers can explore Monad technology without risks or financial costs. By interacting with the network, you help developers detect bugs and evaluate system performance.

Wallet Setup

To begin interacting with Monad Testnet, you need an EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine)-compatible wallet, such as Metamask. Follow the steps below to download and install it successfully.

Go to the official Metamask page in the Chrome Web Store.

Click the button to install the extension.

Confirm the extension installation.

In the opened window, proceed to create a new wallet.

Create a password for your wallet.

Be sure to save your secret recovery phrase. Store it in a secure place — anyone with access to it can access your wallet.

Adding Monad Test Network

After setting up your wallet, you need to add the Monad Testnet to it.

Go to the Monad Testnet page in the "Add Network" section: https://faucet.monad.xyz/add-network.

Click on the button "Add Monad Testnet to Wallet."

Confirm the network addition in your wallet.

Funding Your Wallet with Test Tokens

To conduct transactions in any blockchain network, you need tokens to pay gas fees. In the case of testnets like Monad Testnet, faucets help by providing free test tokens. Interestingly, Bitcoin was also initially distributed for free via similar faucets.

Let’s go through all the available faucets that distribute MON test tokens.

Official Monad Faucet

Go to the official Monad faucet site: https://faucet.monad.xyz/

Paste your wallet address into the input field. You can find your wallet address by opening the Metamask extension in your browser.

Click the "Get Testnet Mon" button. Note that you must have at least 0.03 ETH in your wallet and have completed at least 3 transactions on the Ethereum mainnet. You can request tokens once every 6 hours.

Connecting your social media accounts (X and Discord) increases your token limit.

aPriori Faucet

Go to the aPriori faucet page: http://stake.apr.io/faucet.

Agree to the terms.

Connect your wallet.

Check back periodically for available tokens.

Gas.zip Faucet

Go to the Gas.zip faucet page: https://www.gas.zip/faucet/monad.

Connect your wallet.

Note: To use this faucet, specific conditions must be met. You need to perform $1.00+ worth of transactions on Gas.zip:

• 10 transactions — 0.025 MON
• 25 transactions — 0.075 MON
• 50 transactions — 0.165 MON
• 100 transactions — 0.333 MON

You can generate these transactions by transferring sums over $1 on supported networks via https://www.gas.zip/.

Morkie Faucet

Go to the Morkie faucet page: https://faucet.morkie.xyz/monad

To request tokens, you need a Morkie ID. If you have one, go to step 6. If not, follow the instructions below.

Click "Morkie ID" at the top.

Connect your wallet.

Select a network for minting. You will need that network’s tokens to pay for minting and fees.

After successful minting, return to the faucet page (https://faucet.morkie.xyz/monad).

Click "Claim MON."

Paste your wallet address in the input field and click "Claim MON."

Visit daily to ensure you always have enough MON for transactions.

Nerzo Faucet

Go to the Nerzo faucet page: https://faucet.nerzo.xyz/monad

Connect your wallet.

Click "Claim Passport." You must have enough POL in the Polygon network to cover fees (about 18.1 POL should suffice).

Complete the first task.

Post on X (Twitter).

Paste the link to your tweet in the input field.

Request test tokens. You can now claim 1.5 MON daily.

Buying Test Tokens

You can also obtain test tokens by purchasing them via dedicated services.

Connect your wallet.

Choose the network you want to swap from.

Enter the amount of tokens you want to exchange.

Confirm the swap.

Deploying a Smart Contract

A smart contract is programmatic code that automatically executes predefined conditions of a transaction between two or more parties using blockchain technology. Blockchain developers are encouraged to deploy smart contracts on their platforms.

To deploy a smart contract on Monad Testnet, no advanced knowledge is needed. We'll use a convenient service provided by the Owlto platform.

Connect your wallet.

Ensure the correct network is selected and click "Deploy."

Select "ERC20 Mode" and fill in the input fields.

Click "Deploy."

Play Fantasy Top

Fantasy Top on Monad is a collectible card game where users build teams of cards featuring well-known crypto influencers from X (formerly Twitter), such as Ansem, ThreadGuy, Truth Terminal, and others.

Unlike traditional fantasy sports games featuring athletes, Fantasy Top heroes are real figures from the crypto community. Their scores are based on social media engagement (likes, reposts, audience involvement).

Upon first login, each player receives a free starter pack of 15 cards and can participate in tournaments with prizes such as XP, tickets, and test tokens (fMON), which are used to buy cards in the game’s marketplace. Participants can also get a chance to be whitelisted for future NFT collections on Monad’s mainnet.

To join the game:

Create an account by clicking the button and choosing an authentication method.

Be sure to read all the rules on the site.

In the store, claim your free welcome card pack. You can also buy additional packs or try your luck with the random wheel.

In the "Competitions" section, join weekly tournaments.

Choose an available league, e.g., Bronze.

Click "Register a Deck" to start selecting cards.

Click the button to auto-build the optimal deck.

Click "Save Deck" to save your lineup for the upcoming tournament. Note: You must rebuild your deck before each match.

If you have unused cards left, you can try creating another deck.

Stake MON

Staking is the process of supporting a blockchain network by holding cryptocurrency in a wallet or a staking platform. You can also stake MON test tokens by following these steps:

Talentum also supports Monad testnet by encouraging interactions with dApps and NFT projects, helping grow the community and increase transaction volume.

Talentum Daily Streaks

Talentum Daily Streaks encourage users to interact with Monad through Talentum daily to build a streak.

Each consecutive day of activity increases your streak count. Missing a day resets your streak to zero.

Click "Streak Now" every day.

Click "Connect Your Wallet."

Click on your wallet address and then "Done."

Complete Quests

Monad and Talentum offer various quests and tasks on the Monad testnet to increase chances of airdrops and rewards.

Types of tasks:

• POAP minting: Minting NFT badges for task completion
• X (Twitter) subscriptions and social activities
• dApp interactions: Use dApps in the Monad ecosystem
• Whitelist applications: Join waitlists for drops or early access
• Token/NFT purchases
• App downloads: Complete tasks involving installing and using apps

Quest example:

Choose a project of interest.

Join the project.

Select any available task (e.g., mint an NFT on Monad).

Start the task.

Review and complete the conditions. Click "Verify."

Claim your reward.

Earn Additional MON Tokens

Click "Mon Faucet."

Click "Connect Your Wallet."

Select your wallet and click "Done."

To receive tokens, follow these steps:

• Link your Twitter account.
• Maintain a minimum wallet balance of $20 on ETH, ARB, BSC, OP, or BASE networks.
• Complete at least 10 tasks or quests.

Note:

• Balance updates can take up to 24 hours.
• Wallets must not be newly created.

Trade on Monad

Token trading is a core part of any crypto ecosystem. Monad offers various DeFi options. Here's how to swap tokens using OctoSwap:

Besides increasing on-chain activity, you can contribute in other ways, such as earning roles in the Monad Discord or creating quality content on social media.

Discord Roles
